coachingsymposiumlogo_2015_pngAre you an Ontario Elementary or High School Teacher Coach looking to improve and take your coaching to whole new level? The 2015 Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) Coaching Symposium takes place at Durham College in Oshawa on May 12th and 13th, 2015. The OFSAA Coaching Symposium is a great place for teacher coaches from across Ontario to meet new people, learn, share and have fun.

According to the OFSAA Coaching Symposium website, “The Coaching Symposium focuses on the technical side of coaching, providing sport-specific skills, drills and strategies through both active and classroom sessions. The program offers sessions ranging from introductory to advanced that will benefit both new and seasoned coaches. All sessions offered will be instructed by highly qualified and experienced coaches and instructors. Best practice sessions will also be offered for new and experienced educators; providing strategies and information useful to any physical education environment.”

I’ve been fortunate to have been invited as a presenter again to this year’s OFSAA Coaching Symposium. It’s always great meeting and sharing information and knowledge with Ontario’s teacher coaches. This year I’m presenting on the subject of Dynamic Stretching.

During my workshop I’ll be sharing information on how teacher coaches can take their athletes through effective dynamic stretching protocols to benefit their athletes in numerous ways. When executed with purpose and intent, current dynamic stretching protocols will aid athletes in reducing the risk of injury, moving joints through a full range of motion, igniting the nervous system, increasing body temperature, increasing heart rate, stimulating and warming up the mental capacity of the brain and instills good habits. My session on Dynamic Stretching takes place on Wednesday, May 13th from 10:15 to 11:45 am.

The 2015 OFSAA Coaching Symposium has a wide variety of topics to choose from based on both curricular and extra curricular subject areas. You can find everything you need including links to registration and presenter information, schedule and session descriptions at the OFSAA Coaching Symposium Website.

I look forward to seeing you there.
